A high quality dark patina bronze okimono depicting the study of a walking bear, signed by Seiya Sei.

A rare bronze bear finely crafted and engraved with detailed fur, prominent claws on its paws, displaying perfect posture, proportion, and original patina.

This bronze okimono depicting a bear is prominently signed on a square plaque under the belly as ‘Seiya sei’ せいや製, Genryusai Seiya.

Active in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1912), Genryusai Seiya was a master craftsman specializing in high-quality bronzes. His works included bronze studies of animals, as well as scenes of daily life depicting human figures.

Origin: Japan

Period: Meiji second half of the 19th century.

Dimensions: 12,5 x 22 x 10 cm.
