An ivory and bronze okimono on a wooden base depicting two Go players, the ancient Japanese board game.

This okimono features the two Go players sitting with crossed legs and straight backs. One of the participants holds an exquisite pipe along with his tabakoire, while the other is engrossed in contemplating his next move.

The ivory is masterfully carved, highlighting precise details of the faces and hair. The garments and traditional clothing elements of the players are crafted in patinated bronze, while the wooden base gracefully accommodates accessories such as pawn containers, a small table, a brazier, and some books.

The artist’s signature is placed on a red lacquer plaque.
